Cleavers
Fiber cleaving is the deliberate, controlled process to break a fiber so as to provide a flat end face for coupling or fusion splicing. Thorlabs' fiber cleavers are capable of cleaving fibers with cladding diameters from 60 µm to 1.5 mm, depending on the model, and are available for single mode, multimode, and polarization-maintaining fibers. Choose from dedicated, standalone fiber cleavers and multipurpose designs that are also capable of stripping, cleaning, cleaving, recoating, and/or proof testing. A CO2 laser fiber cutter is available to cut glass fibers and epoxy beads at the ends of ferrules to replace the traditional multi-step cleaving process with one simple procedure. Additionally, we offer a manual cleaver and a ruby fiber optic scribe.
